Invariably around the Christmas holiday my mom would gather up the leftover candy canes and smash them in a ziplock with a soup can. You could tell this was a ritual with mysterious beginnings. Made with ready-made ingredients, Box angel food cake, crushed candy canes 1/4 cup, one can of white frosting. It might be the source of my love of Altoids. Make the cake to the box directions adding 3 TB of crushed candy cane when fully whipped, place in oven and bake according to the box. Must cool upside down completely, and remove. Place cake on serving tray.
Melt frosting in microwave 15 seconds and drizzle over cake. Sprinkle with rest of crushed candy and let set 10 minutes. Must be enjoyed with small slices and a strong coffee. Merry Christmas!
